Stay Flood Smart: New guide to help protect your home and community
In light of recent flood events, including the significant impact of Storm Babet in October 2023, Suffolk County Council has recently published a "Flood Smart Living" brochure to help residents enhance their flood resilience. The guide offers practical advice on measures to reduce flood risk and increase the resilience of homes and communities.
Key topics include:
- Understanding Flood Risks: Recognising areas susceptible to flooding and the types of floods that can occur
- Property Flood Resilience (PFR): Implementing adaptations to properties to prevent or minimise internal flooding
- Community Preparedness: Developing community emergency plans and coordinating responses to flood events
Affected residents are encouraged to apply for the Property Flood Resilience (PFR) grant, offering up to £5,000 for eligible properties affected by recent floods. The deadline for applications is April 2025.
More information can be found here: Property flood resilience (PFR) grant scheme - Suffolk County Council
SCC Officers can help answer your questions on the grant and would like to hear from you.
