Property Flood Resilience Grant Scheme ’Drop in’ Event

Property Flood Resilience Grant Scheme ’Drop in’ Event

Tue, 25th Feb 2025 10:00 - 13:00

East Suffolk Council's 'Resilience Coordinator', is holding Property Flood Resilience (PFR) Grant Scheme 'drop in' sessions. This is one of three sessions offering the opportunity to speak to staff about the grant, including submitting an application, surveys and dispelling any myths relating to property insurance.

This 'drop in' event is informal with no need to book and residents are welcome to attend any time between 10am - 1pm.

To reach as many residents as possible, communities impacted have been clustered into 3 locations and residents of surrounding parishes are encouraged to attend their nearest event. The selected locations are as follows:

  • Wickham Market (Southern Cluster) – Wednesday 19th February, 10.00-13.00, Wickham Market Library
  • Framlingham (Central Cluster)Thursday 20th February, 10:00-13:00, Framlingham Library.
  • Halesworth (Northern Cluster) – This Event.

The PFR Grant Scheme entitles those who reported internal flooding from Storm Babet, access to £5,000 to help make properties resilient to flooding in the future and is available until April 2025, making these events one of the last opportunities to speak to staff in person.

The following link provides further details about the scheme: Property flood resilience (PFR) grant scheme - Suffolk County Council.

Wed, 12th Mar 2025 19:30

Director: Tim Mielants
With Cillian Murphy, Emily Watson
Runtime: 98 mins

Based on the novella by Claire Keegan. Bill Furlong (Cillian Murphy) is a coal merchant in small-town 1980s Ireland. Everybody in the town knows that the local convent is one of the infamous Magdalene Laundries, but everybody feigns ignorance because the nuns have far-reaching power and influence in the community. When Bill, himself the child of a single mother, finds a bruised and shivering young woman locked in the convent coalshed on a bitterly cold December day, he knows that any action on his part will cost him dear.
